About the Forum
The Forum is a joint initiative of the United Nations Office on Sport for Development and Peace (UNOSDP) and the Jacobs Foundation in collaboration with the Swiss Academy for Development (SAD) and the Mathare Youth Sports Association (MYSA).Overview
The Forum will provide a platform on which experienced practitioners and eminent experts will present exemplary ‘good practices’, systematically analyse the potential and limits of using sport for Productive Youth Development (PYD) in Africa, and on this basis, develop a set of recommendations for rendering future approaches in this domain more effective.
Objectives
- To provide an overview of the current status of knowledge on the use of sport as a tool for PYD, to develop a common understanding of the potential and limits of sport in PYD and to identify current knowledge gaps;
- To identify the success factors of specific ‘good practice’ examples and lessons learned from a cross-section of PYD through sport initiatives, in light of the potentials and limits of using sport as a tool for PYD discussed;
- To define, develop and publish the best strategies on how to share knowledge, resources and expertise within and between groups of actors involved in implementation, programming and policy making of PYD through sport.
