CDA is an active network of young people from across the world who have an active interest in the African continent. The forthcoming CDA Seminar will be held in Berlin from 11th – 18th June 2010 and will focus on the theme “The Development Game: Challenges and Opportunities Facing Africa and the Importance of Bridging Sport, Culture and Politics.”

Background Information

The weeklong seminar will consist of lectures, seminars, workshops and panel discussions by leading figures from the fields of politics, diplomacy, civil society, academia, and the private sector and will focus on the following issues:
  • Challenges and opportunities facing Africa
  • South Africa’s position as a role model for development and stabilisation on the continent.
  • Foreign direct investment in Africa
  • The importance of Cultural Diplomacy and ‘Soft Power’
  • The future of Africa and the African Union on the international political stage.
  • Sport and the arts as fundamental tools of Cultural Diplomacy and their role in facilitating growth in Africa’s economies.

The program will be complemented by cultural and social activities that will provide an opportunity to experience the diversity of cultures and networking opportunities.
