Background Information
On the weekend of the World Cup quarterfinals, the young streetfootballers will be at Berlin’s famed Alexanderplatz, in the heart of the city, to show the world what they can do.
Teams from youth projects, clubs and schools from around Berlin will play under the TV Tower on two recycled football pitches and in a specially constructed stadium. Public viewings of the World Cup quarterfinals will be featured on solar-powered screens.
More than football
The stadium will feature an exhibition of football photos from Africa, and visitors who prefer to exercise their minds can play on chess and backgammon boards outside. Home-grown artists will perform alongside freestyle acrobats from across the continent.
The programme begins at 2 p.m. on 2 July with the start of the tournament and live music.
Saturday starts at 9 a.m., and the final day begins at 10 a.m.
