UK Sport and Comic Relief partnership
UK Sport and Comic Relief have formed a partnership for research on the role of sport in international development. The initiative is operated through UK Sport’s charity arm – International Development through Sport (IDS) who will work with directly with grassroots projects funded by UK Sport and Comic Relief’s Sport Relief campaign.
The research project was initiated in 2007 and will continue for three years. Community organisations and experts will work together to try to determine how and why sport can have a positive impact on disadvantaged children and young people as well as their communities.
Professor Fred Coalter of the University of Stirling provides assistance to the ten participating organisations from eight countries to develop monitoring and evaluation tools to measure and assess the impact of sport in their programmes.
