Through the Ticket Fund, Sony Corporation and GrassRootSoccer donated 200 tickets to Kick4Life to be distributed to youth aged 10 to 25 to go and experience two World Cup Football Games in Bloemfontein.

The first game was on June 17, where Greece beat Nigeria 2-1 and the second game was on June 22, where South Africa played their last game in this year’s world cup competition despite their 2-1 victory over France.

The tickets could not be won or bought they could only be earned. The tickets were awarded to the children and volunteers who have shown continued commitment and dedication to Kick4Life’s Maseru Street League Tournament which takes place once a month in Old Europa in the field behind the Palace of Justice.

The youth came from the following orphanages: Ministry of Insured Salvation, Malibuseng Children's Home, LGGA, SOS and also from the following communities: Sea Point, Motimposo, Mazenod, Borokhoaneng and some children living on the streets in the Maseru City Area.

“It was so rewarding to see the children enjoy the games, especially since at one point we were not sure if they were going to be able to cross the border since 112 of them did not have passports! However after a lot of hard work, they were all issued passports in time. It certainly was a once in a lifetime experience for our youth to be able to be part of the World Cup 2010 in Africa.” says Daniela Gusman from Kick4Life.
