An exhibition supported by the German Football Association (DFB), UEFA and its core social responsibility partner, the Football Against Racism in Europe (FARE) network, will highlight the issue of sport and homosexuality.

Against the Rules will open at the Rotes Rathaus in the German capital, Berlin, on 4 May in the presence of DFB president Theo Zwanziger. The exhibition will focus on a theme that is often seen as a taboo within society. The organisers express the view that while society may have changed, sport and homosexuality are not considered compatible.

The European Gay & Lesbian Sport Federation says that society changes are gradually afoot with, for example, sport moving from being a physical education activity to a leisure activity, and with the women's emancipation movement having emerged in recent decades.

The exhibition does not pretend to be complete, but aims to break the taboo about the topic, as well as raising awareness of discrimination against sexual minorities in sport.
