'Area Sport for All' at the World Social Forum

The UISP (Italian Sport for All Association) will provide non-structured and self-organised sport activities in the Sport for All Area - UFRA, inside the World Social Forum (WSF). The WSF is an important place for discussing and comparing practices, and the different thematic workshops will help illustrate this philosophy.

We believe that the free expression of the body is important for encouraging mutual understanding and that the universal language of sport and games can help initiate relationships and contacts, even without using verbal dialogue.

From 28 to 31 January each participant can participate in football and volleyball games. If possible we will organise tournaments among the representatives of participating organisations or mixed teams created ad hoc.

It will also be possible to watch exhibitions of capoeira and folk dances, and to learn the first steps of these dances. It will be possible to participate in workshops, or take a break and relax with the gymnastic activities.

Part of the area will be dedicated to traditional games from all over the world, where it will be possible to play and build games with recycling materials, and to discuss and share specific games of each cultural tradition.

This space is meant to be open and everybody is invited to participate and present their own sport.
