In the season of the Boston Marathon and the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace, the Foundation for Sport and Development and Peace from South Africa, in collaboration with numerous stakeholders in the US and in Africa, held the organisation's 1st Boston Sport & Peace Roundtable.

The Foundation for Sport and Development and Peace event took place on Friday 10 April 2015 in the Great Hall of the State House in Boston. It was free and open to the public with advanced registration. Building on the 1st Cape Town Sport and Peace Conference held on the occasion of the Cape Town, Marathon in South Africa and World Peace Day in 2014, the organisation's 1st Boston Roundtable for Sport & Peace was planned as an annual event and dedicated to promoting awareness and visibility of sport as a means of building peace within communities, and for youth more specifically.

In an interactive format the event addressed questions about the challenges young people face in navigating a world of increasing conflict and turmoil, and the opportunities for communities of practice for Sport to address the challenges facing youth, communities, and nations.

The roundtable brought together stakeholders from the US and Africa to discuss the many ways sport can be used as a vehicle to build peaceful communities and social inclusion. The roundtable emphasised the creation of global links that can serve to empower young people through innovative programming and collaboration between governments, NGOs, tertiary institutions, schools, clubs, federations, the media and others to promote sport and peace worldwide.
