Submit your #IDSDP2017 photos before 24 March.

On the occasion of the 2017 International Day of Sport for Development and Peace (IDSDP) on 6 April, the United Nations Office on Sport for Development and Peace (UNOSDP) launches the digital campaign #WePlayTogether to encourage organisations and individuals who support or carry out sport for development and peace activities to partake in the commemoration of the IDSDP.

The campaign invites participants to share a picture on social media that represents for them the “power of sport to promote peace, unity and inclusion”.

The campaign joins the UN Secretary-General’s call to make “2017 a year for peace”. In addition to harnessing Goal 16 “Peace, Justice and strong institutions”, the campaign will also raise awareness about sport’s contribution to Goal 10 “Reducing inequalities” and Goal 11 “Sustainable cities and communities” of the Sustainable Development Goals in promoting initiatives that include refugees and people with disabilities.

How to participate?

  • Please send a photo that shows how in your initiative, event, project or community sport brings people together in a positive way promoting peace, unity and inclusion to [email protected]. In the email, please include information on the activity shown, such as location, occasion and a brief description of the project or event, as well as a photo credit.
  • We also encourage you to share it on Facebook and/or Twitter with the hashtags #WePlayTogether #IDSDP and #IDSDP2017

UNOSDP will showcase the pictures received on its social media channels and select the best photos to be shown in an exhibition at the United Nations in the Palais des Nations in Geneva, highlighting what the UN and players all around the world do to harness the power of sport. Submitted photos should have a resolution of at least 300 DPI as selected photos would be printed in a 40 x 50 cm format. Please note that by means of submission, you agree that photos can be printed and showcased at the photo exhibition and on UNOSDP’s media.

Deadline for submission: Friday, 24 March 2017
