Coaches Across Continents returns to India to train Slum Soccer coaches
(CAC) returns to Nagpur, India in the second year of their partnership with Slum Soccer. The three CAC coaches, Jaren LaGreca, Gina Wideroff, and Brian Suskiewicz, will be focusing on training 12 of the returning/senior coaches for Slum Soccer. These 12 coaches will serve as the future Slum Soccer staff trainers, as new coaches continue to join the organisation.
During the second week, an additional 25-35 coaches from Slum Soccer and the community will be joining in. These new coaches will undergo their first experience of training with the Coaches Across Continents system.
The coaching education and curriculum that will be delivered to all the coaches focuses on using football for social impact. The curriculum, specifically tailored to address the social needs of the Nagpur region, concentrates on teaching young soccer players about football, but more importantly, about life skills such as health and wellness, female empowerment, problem solving and conflict resolution.
It is our goal that the coaches from Slum Soccer can continue teaching the youth of Nagpur, as well as train future coaches within Slum Soccer, to address the social issues of the community through the game of soccer.
