Coaching Education in Liechtenstein- Soccer for Social Good

Sudanese coaches taught how to use football for social purposes

On July 26th, 2009, Scort  welcomed a group of Sudananese soccer coaches and players to Liechtenstein. The delegation included officials and coaches of Sudan Football Association, an U16-Team and the 25 young coaches of the Scort Project Sudan.

While the U16-Team played against the best European teams at the International Swiss U16 Cup the 25 coaches composed of young women and men undertook their third coaching education module.

Coaches of Scort's partner clubs FC Basel, Bayer 04 Leverkusen and Liverpool FC were involved in training the young coaches.

A significant objective of the coaching education was to learn how to use football as a tool for social purposes such as teaching values, social  integration, peer-to-peer education, and capacity building. Upon their return home the coaches will implement the new skills working with their own football groups for children at different aid organisations or poor areas in Khartoum.

As well as taking part in practical training sessions the young coaches also attended the International Forum on Football for the Community listening to presentations about the overall topic “social engagement through football”.
