The final programme of the Sport as a Mediator Between Cultures conference, taking place 15-17 September in Israel, is now available.

The Sport as a Mediator Between Cultures conference takes place from 15-17 September 2011. It is being held at the Wingate Institute in Israel.

International experts such as the keynote speakers Fred Coalter, University of Stirling, UK; Ulrike Burrmann, Technical University Dortmund, Germany; John Sugden, University of Brighton, UK; and Cora Burnett, University of Johannesburg, South Africa, will share their knowledge on themes around sport for development and peace.

The programme includes an examination of which demographic groups may be reached through development projects using sport, and how sport may help for the integration of migrants. Moreover, topics will for example address the influence of sport on politics and society considering regional characteristics, and how project results can be measured and evaluated.

In addition to scientific research results, practitioners will deliver their knowledge and experience and participants will have the opportunity to attend hands-on practical workshops. On the final day of the event, field trips to development projects are planned.
