Forum on Football for Development and Peace

International Forum on Football for the Community took place from 30-31 July in Bad Ragaz, Switzerland

The International forum was held with the purpose of facilitating the use of football as a tool to support and assist youth and promote peace initiatives.

It was an opportunity for those involved to gather and discuss current practice and knowledge in the field and also to generate new ideas for projects. The forum also provided participants with the time to develop joint initiatives strengthen existing networks and build new ones.

Over the two days various questions were posed to participants such as:

  • How can the integration among children of different ethnic groups be achieved through football?
  • What values can be promoted and sustained through football?
  • How can organizations work together to build social engagement through football?

The organizers aimed to bring together interested organizations and individuals from various disciplines and fields of practice to combine the knowledge and experience from economics, politics, science and football enthusiasts.

The event was organized by Scort Foundation and was opened by Wilfried Lemke, Special Advisor to the United Nations Secretary General on Sport for Development and Peace.
