A friendly football match and a health carnival

The Addressing Alcoholism within the Orang Asli Population project (AIPOA) will celebrate IDSDP by promoting healthy lifestyles through football.

Our team will be continuing to design and implement our project. And maybe playing a little football with the children. We are working with the indigenous Orang Asli population in rural Malaysia on a project designed to reduce alcoholism within the village. Besides that, playing football seems to be the best entry point to any population around the globe. Our project will culminate in a health carnival situated around a friendly football match between local villages.

The International Day of Sport for Development and Peace means that finally there is a dedicated day for this so far neglected topic. It happens to be just one day before the World Health Day, yet the potential of using sports as a means of community development and promoting healthy lifestyle around the world is absent in most public health conferences, talks and educational programmes.
