Congratulations to the team at the CNVLD for producing this really informative and professional documentary film.

This is great example of visual media being used to promote awareness, positive attitudes and community support for sporting activities for people with a disability.

Another example is the full lenth movie, MurderBall that showcases the sport of wheelchair rugby and has taken images of disability sport and the personal and team challenges in wheelchair rugby into cinemas and lounge rooms across the world.

In terms of documentary films, the International Paralympic Committee held the first Paralympic Film Festival in Budapest in 2006 and next year the International Symposium of Adapted Physical Activity in Sweden will include a film contest to also encourage films and moving images of disability sport.

One company has gone a step further by creating participatory video, a method designed to use video techniques for monitoring and evaluation of development projects. At the Next Step Conference in Namibia in 2007, Insight conducted participatory video training for a group of athletes with disabilities and you can find that video and other videos related to sport and development at Insight's website www.insightshare.org/sport4development.

Besides the obvious, access to technology, equipment and training, what kind of barriers are people facing in using moving images, films and video in developing countries to promote sport and development projects?

Perhaps if more organisations have developed films related to sport and development they could share them here on the Platform!
