On 6 April, celebrating the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace, subscriptions for the first edition of the Great Atos Global Expedition (GAGE 2021) were officially opened.

Atos is the worldwide IT Partner of both the International Olympic Committee and the International Paralympic Committee. In this role, Atos doesn’t only look to deliver critical digital services to the Olympic and Paralympic Games; it’s also about bringing the Olympic spirit to employees.

The Great Atos Global Expedition 2021 will look at reinforcing the link between Atos employees around the globe thriving on the 3 Olympic values: excellence, friendship and respect. This unique initiative will enable colleagues to team up and inspire one another in the challenge of keeping positive health through exercise while virtually travelling through Japan with the finish line in Tokyo – host city of the next Olympic and Paralympic Games. As employees subscribe to this adventure, they will also have the opportunity to raise money for a charity of their choice

Facing the challenges of working from home or in any other way isolated from colleagues, this event will allow online socializing opportunities. Although the exercise activity will be achieved individually, the overall effort will be accumulated as a team, thereby bringing people closer to each other. Interactions will be initiated as teams progress and compete, in a respectful way, with other Atos teams.

Virtual mission

During the month of May, teams of 10 Atos colleagues are challenged to fulfill a route of 2021 kilometers across Japan, finishing at the Olympic Stadium in Tokyo. With an online application or the mobile app, teams can input their kilometers, monitor the progress of their team and other teams, enjoying the route by discovering the local scenery with Google streetview. While making progress, milestones will be unlocked to the team to keep motivation high all the way to the finish line.

Not a runner, cyclist, swimmer or not into sports yet at all? No problem. Over 40 different activities are converted into kilometers. So, whether someone is a runner, a walker, in a wheelchair or a karateka, this challenge is achievable for everyone!

Make your effort count

This Atos organized event creates an opportunity for people to connect their exercises to a good cause. Donations and fundraising efforts are not mandatory for participation, but the teams will be challenged and inspired to make their efforts count. Some preselected charities will be available, next to the full support for local charities of choice.
