The sportanddev.org team is joining in the 6 April celebrations.

Today is the fourth International Day of Sport for Development and Peace (IDSDP), an opportunity for the community to celebrate its achievements and campaign for change. The internet has been buzzing with activity over the past few days and weeks, with organisations around the world sharing their activities and what IDSDP means to them.

Some important announcements have already been made today, with World Rugby releasing its Spirit of Rugby programme and the Commonwealth Youth Sport for Development and Peace Network publishing a message for policy makers. The Commonwealth Secretariat is hosting a debate on sport and sustainable development in London today at 6pm UK time – you can tune in via live stream.

Some IDSDP activities continue beyond today, with the #Juggle4Equality video challenge and the IDSDP poster competition running until 30 April.

Thank you to all of you who have participated in IDSDP this year, and shared your plans, thoughts and articles on our website. We have been inspired to see how enthusiastically 6 April has been celebrated again. Take a look at our IDSDP 2017 section for a full round up of our content.

In addition to bringing you comprehensive coverage online, the sportanddev.org team has taken part in some sports activities outside our office. Check out our GIF  to see us in action.

So enjoy the day, add a splash of 6 April-tinted colour to your Facebook profile, rock out to the IDSDP theme song and start preparing for next year.

Happy celebrating!
