Community Sport and Educational Development (CSED) and Basketball for Peace (BB4P) celebrated the day with events in Nigeria.
How will you be celebrating on the day?

Two sports for change NGOs (BB4P and CSED) in Nigeria have joined forces to mark this year's International Day of Sport for Development and Peace, as they are going to organise two separate events in the towns of Zaria (Northern Nigeria) and Sapele (Southern Nigeria). BB4P uses basketball to promote peace in 30 Peace Zones all over Nigeria. By providing youths the opportunities to learn new skills and improve their life chances, while being a member of a team. CSED uses sports to promote literacy and the social well-being of Nigerian children and youths. On 6 April 2019, these two NGOs will organise a three-a-side Basketball for Peace Competition among six (6) selected teams in each separate towns. During the competition, Peace Managers will teach the youth; tolerance, team work, leadership, basic life skills and peace education. More than four hundred children and youths are expected to attend these two events.

What does 6 April mean to you?

6 April provides me with the opportunity to reflect on my work as a change agent who would want to use sports to positively influence the behaviour of children and youths in the local community. It also provides me with the opportunity to exchange ideas and learn from other NGO managers from different parts of the world.
