CAFE Founding and Managing Director Joyce Cook has accepted a new role at FIFA, where she will become the organisation’s new Chief Member Associations Officer.

Joyce founded CAFE in 2009, when UEFA awarded its Monaco Prize to establish a European NGO to improve access and inclusion within football for disabled people.

In her seven years at CAFE Joyce has put access and inclusion firmly on the agenda of European football; she has overseen many great success stories including the publication of Access for All – the UEFA & CAFE Good Practice Guide to Creating an Accessible Stadium and Matchday Experience, the legacy of improved access after UEFA EURO 2012 in Poland and Ukraine, and the introduction of the Disability Access Officer role into UEFA’s Club Licensing and Financial Fair Play criteria.

Announcing Joyce’s new role, a FIFA press release said, “Joyce has a proven record of developing and delivering far-reaching and sustainable diversity and inclusion projects at both national and international levels, with a broad knowledge of football structures and governance. She is the founder and managing director of the Centre for Access to Football in Europe (CAFE) and internationally recognised as expert adviser on accessible stadiums and the built environment for sports events and services, including handbooks developed by FIFA and UEFA for their flagship events”.

Joyce’s position was created as part of the restructuring of FIFA’s administration and entails the delivery of a key goal in the recently established FIFA vision: investment in football development through FIFA’s 211 member associations under the FIFA Forward Programme.

Joyce will be relocating to Zurich for her role, and we are delighted that Joanna Deagle has accepted the position of CAFE Managing Director. Joanna joined CAFE in November 2014 and had been CAFE’s Senior Manager – Fans Liaison & Project Development.
