Lider Haz Go conducts second leadership workshop at ASA
Lider Haz Go (LHG) conducts courses and workshops on mentoring and how to be a coach. They also encourage and motivate young individuals to make crucial decisions for their careers. A team of four LHG trainers well experienced in the fields of Human resources, Journalism, Radio and Business conducted this workshop at the Anantapur Sports Academy (ASA). They led a four hour Leadership training session on the 09 September 2016 for as many as 13 young coaches and 12 senior footballers part of the ASA, as well as two of ASA’s partner staff.
These trainers began with a quick introductory ice breaker and moved to the crux of their four hour session, where the athletes were asked to identify their favorite sports persons, teams and coaches. They later led this further to analyse the values that each of the participating individuals looked for in their choices.
For some, it was the skills of their favorite athletes, while others valued the humility and passion for the game of their favorite players, coaches and teams. The life skills trainers highlighted that all these choices were made by every individual on account of their subconscious desire to be like those identified persons, as they believed these were leaders.
Later the young coaches and athletes were made to observe a role-play and put forth their observations. The athletes and their coaches related these situations to their daily life. With this, the LHG trainers explained to the youngsters about the various values they need to command to be leaders, particularly the value of empathy. They realised that they needed to work as teams to support their coaches to develop them into future leaders.
The last part of the session made both coaches and players list down a future action plan on how they could contribute to support each other and develop as a team to eventually grow as leaders. Here both groups listed the efforts they needed to make towards the growth and development of each other individually and as a team.
ASA Football Technical Director Miquel Llado shared that, “This workshop was a great eye opener for both the coaches and the athletes. Most of the young coaches have recently graduated from the ASA and rejoined as volunteer coaches. This workshop should help them greatly to be motivated while simultaneously understanding themselves and their athletes as a team, to develop and grow together.”
