Mental health and sport

The Chiromo Hospital Group held two online events to discuss the impact sport can have on individual mental health.

Continuing the discussions from May, marked as Mental Health Awareness Month, the sixth month of the year is an opportune time for the world to come together and spark discussions on the importance of mental health among men, especially given the currently climate of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In an effort to maximize on digital spaces, Chiromo Hospital Group organized two engagements based around the themes of sport, nutrition and its impact on mental health. On 8 June, a tweet-chat was organized which included 6 panellists from various spheres of sport, nutrition, mental health and medicine.

On 10 June, a Facebook live event was held to deepen the conversation, which sought to unpack issues on the importance of nutrition in men’s mental health, guiding steps that men can utilize to safeguard their mental well-being, and mental benefits of staying fit.
