On 8 August, Japan Paralympic Day 2009 was celebrated in Tokyo, Japan, to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the National Paralympic Committee (NPC) of Japan.
This event was also an opportunity to promote awareness and knowledge about the Paralympic Movement, Paralympic Sport and the upcoming Tokyo 2009 Asian Youth Para Games taking place from 11-13 September, 2009.
Supporting the big event were the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, and the Tokyo Sports Association for the Disabled.
A number of Paralympic sporting events were demonstrated by Paralympians.
The Paralympic Day in Tokyo was also an opportunity for all visitors to take part in various sports, including Goalball and Wheelchair Basketball.
