Two representatives of the International Platform on Sport & Development’s Operating Team have arrived in Genting Highlands, Malaysia to attend and participate in the 12th World Sport for All Congress, taking place from 3-6 November 2008.

This year, the Congress seeks to address several broad topics:

  • Physical activity for young people;
  • Role of Sport for All in the world of information technology;
  • Sport for All’s responses to the challenge of ageing population;
  • Sport for All and social justice;
  • Focus on the Olympic and Sports Movement’s Sport for All initiatives

The Platform will be presented at this event to showcase the use of information technology in promoting Sport for All programmes.

This is going to be an exciting opportunity for the Platform to reach out to the Sports community and engage with the members of the Olympic movement.

The Opening ceremony included a keynote speech from Special Adviser to the UN Secretary-General on
Sport for Development and Peace, Mr. Wilfried Lemke, as well as a video message from IOC President Jacques Rogge.

We will be posting updates and photos from the conference over the next few days.
