Acadia University masters student, Joshua Budish, will use the day to prepare for a research trip to Cameroon and says the day is an opportunity to raise awareness about sport for development and peace.

Activity

The research I am conducting as a masters student in Recreation Management and Community Development is focused on identifying the role of the coach as a community development practitioner in sport for development programmes. I will be travelling to Cameroon this summer to conduct my field research, but 6 April sits firmly within my planning window - a preparation day for my research trip.

Message
6 April means a global recognition of the SDP movement and what sport really means to our global society. As SDP practitioners, researchers, and supporters we recognise the importance of critical examination in the implementation of sport in development, which speaks to the importance of awareness raising days like 6 April. Thus, it represents an opportunity to educate the world on SDP, its obstacles, successes, limitations, and possibilities.
