The 3rd Peace and Sport International Forum officially opened by Prince Albert II of Monaco.

Distinguished speakers took the stage during the opening ceremony of the 3rd Peace and Sport International Forum.

Joël Bouzou, President and Founder of Peace and Sport, officially welcomed the participants, highlighting there were more than 450 delegates participating in the third edition of the Forum. The importance of establishing partnerships in the field of peace through sport was identified as a key challenge for the Forum.

French Secretary of State for Sports Rama Yade was also among the speakers taking part in the opening ceremony. Linking her intervention with her previous position as Secretary of State for Human Rights, she stated that sport should be used not only as a tool for peace promotion, but also as a way to address human rights issues.

President of Slovenia Danilo Türke also provided a more refined definition of peace during the opening ceremony:

“Peace can not be defined as an absence of peace. Rather, peace is made possible thanks to development, and namely the Millenium Development Goals”.


HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco concluded the ceremony by declaring the 3rd Peace and Sport International Forum as officially open.
