How will you be celebrating on the day?

On the auspicious occasion of "International Day of Sports for Development & Peace 2019” being globally commemorated on 6 April, the Indian Pierre De Coubertin Association (IPCA), a National entity of IOC family accredited through the International Pierre De Coubertin Committee (CIPC) wishes to students, for their betterment. We have already confirmed that seven students and one teacher as “Indian Coubertin Team”, students are between the age of 16 to 18 years for participation in the 12th International CIPC Youth Forum, Macon (France) ‪from 24 - 31‬ ‪August 2019‬, which is going to be organised by International Pierre de Coubertin Committee (CIPC). Therefore we organised symbolic run “Run for Peace ” at three schools: DPS School Bokaro, and Taurian World School Ranchi today. Dr. Ines Nikolaus, Delegate, International CIPC Youth Forum has sent her message for Coubertin Students on the occasion of IDSDP, which was expressed by Mr. Shivendu Dubay, Vice President, IPCA.

The IPCA has a strong interest in all of our activities as we support the modern application of Coubertin’s educational thinking. I wish the "Indian Coubertin Team" successful preparation for participating in the “12th International Pierre de Coubertin Youth Forum in France 2019”. I encourage them to forward all ideas and initiatives generated at the different activities of IPCA.” On the occasion of the International Day of Sport for Developement and Peace, our Coubertin students will be encouraged by the IPCA Delegates. On behalf of IPCA fraternity I extend my hearty thanks for giving opportunity to commemorate as the "International Day of Sport for Development and Peace" at DPS Bokaro and Taurian World School Ranchi, I congratulate you all and my best wishes to all for a successful edition of the "International Day of Sports for Development and Peace 2019”

What does 6 April mean to you?

Under the dynamic leadership of founder of IOC and Father of the Modern Olympics", Sir Baron Pierre De Coubertin on 6 April, 1896, first Modern Olympic Games was held in Athens, Greece. Since 2013, during the General Assembly at Geneva, Switzerland, the United Nations had decided to proclaim in ‪between 6 April‬ as the "International Day of Sport for Development and Peace," every year to commemorate the inauguration, in 1896, of first modern Olympic Games in Athens. On behalf of the Indian Pierre De Coubertin Association (IPCA), being the nodal recognised national entity in India since 2018 for the dissemination of much desired “Olympic Education”, it gives us immense pleasure to congratulate to all students on this auspicious occasion today.
