Community engagement and support is an increasing trend in football, and recognition of good practice is paramount.

The Football Business Awards were held in London on 03 November 2016, at The Emirates Stadium. There were numerous business, marketing and financial related awards for clubs and companies. There was also an opportunity to recognise the good work that football clubs are undertaking as part of their corporate social responsibility strategies.

Best Football Community Scheme (Premier League) - Arsenal FC/The Arsenal Foundation.

There are a number of projects designed to support the local community in different ways, not just restricted to football. Working with Save the Children, The Arsenal Foundation supports projects on an international level; including assisting Grassroots Soccer in Zimbabwe.

The other nominees were:

  • Everton in the Community
  • Manchester City FC / City in the Community Foundation
  • Newcastle United Foundation
  • Tottenham Hotspur FC

 

Best Football Community Scheme – (non-Premier League) - Albion in the Community (Brighton & Hove Albion).

Albion in the Community operate a diverse range of projects that are aimed at improving the outlook and aspirations of young people in the community. This is done through health and wellbeing, education and skills and training.

The other nominees were:

  • Charlton Athletic Community Trust
  • Fulham FC Foundation & London United
  • Hamilton Academical FC
  • Kew Park Rangers FC

 

Best Corporate Social Responsibility Scheme - Sunderland AFC/The Foundation of Light

The Foundation of Light is the corporate social responsibility programme of Sunderland Athletic FC. The multi-award winning Foundation was established in 2001 and works across the North East of England with a strategy to “Involve. Educate. Inspire.”

The other nominees were:

  • Everton in the Community
  • Liverpool FC with Standard Chartered
  • Manchester City – City Football Group
