Refugees introduced to footy with League Stars (NRL)

Young refugees from Iraq and Burma are being introduced to footy in Wagga Wagga, Australia. The programme is being supported by the Red Cross and is the first time the medical organisation has been approached by a sporting code for programmatic collaboration.

Asamoah: Football is a sport that really brings people together (FIFA)

Born in Mampong in Ghana, Asamoah made history in 2001 when, shortly after acquiring citizenship, he became the first African-born player to represent Germany. FIFA spoke to the footballer about racism in football and in society, to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. 

Meet Rose: Refugee Athlete Scholarship-holder and historic Olympic flag-bearer (Olympic Channel)

Rose Lokonyen Nathike is an IOC Refugee Athlete Scholarship-holder who made history at the 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil as the flag-bearer for the first-ever Refugee Olympic Team. With the Tokyo 2020 Olympics only a couple of months away, the 27-year-old South Sudan born athlete is working to better her standing in the Games this time around.

The Olympic Refuge Foundation reaffirmed its commitment to leveraging sport to protect and support young refugees throughout the world by approving their next four-year plan. Their new strategy is focused on affecting change in access, adoption and collective action.

Why football has so many diverse reasons to celebrate (A-League)

Last week was celebrated as 'Harmony Week' in Australia - to mark this occassion, the Australian Professional Leagues collected stories and videos from their athletes to highlight the different ways in which football brings people together.
