Sports as a medium for social change and development in Cameroon.

How does your organisation work toward achieving the SDGs?

SDG issues affecting individuals, communities and institutions are brought into the pitch, discussed, goals set and agreed upon then the match is played for the goals set, followed by post evaluation. Such is then taken back to families and communities for further discussions and to effect change. Every month an SDG is addressed and games are designed based on the issue at stake.

Which specific goals do you target?

We target the following SDGs:

  • 3: Good health and Wellbeing
  • 4: Quality education
  • 5: Gender equality
  • 6: Clean Water and Sanitation
  • 8: Economic growth
  • 16: Peace and Justice

What changes have you made to your work since the SDGs were introduced in January 2016?

We have the golden rule to integrate our focus on SDGs in all our work. We have signed a partnership MoUs with the Penitentiary, Education, Health, Women Empowerment and Water and Sanitation for the promotion of SDGs with our work. This has been reflected in our activities on the field. Football for change is mainstreamed in the prison, WASH, education and gender.

How is your organisation measuring progress?

We measure progress through the number of sessions held, the number of persons, communities and institutions impacted, the social and economic and development changes recorded, the number of MoUs and partnerships established.
