How does your organisation work toward achieving the SDGs?
IYDSF have in school and out -of-school programmes for rural youth. Further, we host tournaments to mark Women's Day, Youth Day, 16 Days of Activism, International Youth Day, Human Rights Day, International Sports Day and Health and Wellness Day.
Which specific goals do you target?
We address SDG 3, 4, 5, 10, 16 and 17.
What changes have you made to your work since the SDGs were introduced in January 2016?
We have held Women's Day, Youth Days, Global Youth Service Day, wherein we refurbished a local creche and cleaned schools, 16 Days of Activism. We have introduced nutrition programmes within rural schools.
How is your organisation measuring progress?
Implementation plan with clearly defined goal and objectives; and time framed interventions that are constantly benchmarked against agreed project indicators. Furthermore, prior to implementing this programme we conducted pre-evaluation and post evaluation of social attitudes towards it; and attitudes and behaviour of young people through our evaluative tools.
