Sport for Good Cities Emerging Leaders Program

Laureus USA is seeking applications for their Sport for Good Cities Emerging Leaders Program, aimed at helping individuals build professional capacities and skills help propel them into future leadership positions.

Program overview

There is a deep pool of talented, passionate young professionals in the Sport for Development sector, yet not many pipelines are devoted to their growth and development. In order to more intentionally cultivate the next generation of diverse leaders who will lead programs, organizations and teams that are supporting young people through sport, Laureus USA created the Sport for Good (SfG) Cities Emerging Leaders Program to build professional capacities and skills, fosters mentoring and peer relationships, and help propel participants into future leadership positions.

The SfG Cities Emerging Leaders Program is a 20-hour, 10-week professional development cohort program that cultivates and connects the next generation of diverse leaders in the sports-based youth development (SBYD) sector. Focus areas include management and strategy, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, fundraising, sustainability, and additional topics based on participants needs.

Target audience

Early to mid-career professionals (2-8+ years) in the Sport for Good sector (SBYDs, youth sports, social impact in Pro Sports/Leagues). Note - this can include volunteers who serve at the Junior Board or Board level as well.
Preference for BIPOC, Sport for Good program alumni, and those with direct service/coaching experience

Goals

Participants will build skills and develop professional capacity as effective changemakers and leaders
Participants will develop strong peer and mentoring relationships with others in the Sport for Good sector
Participants will eventually advance into leadership positions, helping to make the sector more reflective of the community it serves

Date and time commitments
The cohort will be a mix of live and self-guided/self-scheduled programming, roughly once a week from 13 March to 4 May. Please see here for a detailed schedule.
