Sport is integral for the physical health and wellbeing of youth, and a great way to find our way and be successful in our lives.

Do sports help? What impact do they have on our lives? Have you ever stopped for a moment to think and reflect on this? Whether you are a young athlete or not, this information will be very useful to you.

It is a fact that different sports help in many areas of our lives. Not only do they help us to improve biological aspects, but also to favor sociability and psychological issues, which is spectacular.

Let's start from sports and psychology. When we are young, there are many biological, psychological, and social changes taking place. Therefore, many times we do not know what to do or how to act. It is in these moments when sport becomes a great ally. It helps us to know ourselves, to realize the value of effort, to learn to fight for our goals, to be more consistent, and disciplined. Sports help us to achieve emotional stability, increase self-esteem, and improve concentration levels, thus increasing academic performance and many other areas of achievement.

There are many examples of athletes who have overcome challenges thanks to their effort, dedication and strong mentality such as:

  • Bethany Hamilton (Surfing): She began surfing when she was 8 years old. A shark tore off her arm when she was 13, but that was not an impediment for her to return to the waves. Her winning mentality overcame any bad moments that she endured, and she became one of the 50 best surfers in the world.
  • Michael Jordan (Basketball): He is, without a doubt, one of the most influential athletes in history. His name is known all over the world, but he did not have an easy path. Jordan himself said that he doubted his talent, but he overcame the failures that life threw at him to get ahead based on a unique mentality.

See, if they could do it, you can too!

In addition to these examples, sport benefits us physically:

  • It contributes to the maintenance of a good general state of health, helping us to feel healthy and have vitality.
  • It strengthens bones, muscles, and increases physical endurance.
  • It facilitates the proper functioning of the different organs and systems of the body.
  • Reduces the risk of obesity and promotes growth factors.

A healthy relationship between mind and body is essential to feeling good, to being the best version of ourselves, and for optimal sports performance.

Despite the challenges that will appear in our lives, we are the ones who decide to move forward, change and evolve, sport is a great way to start finding our way and be successful in our lives, so what are you waiting for to start?
