sportanddev.org is looking for a partnerships and fundraising coordinator
The Swiss Academy for Development (SAD) is a centre of excellence for sport and development. We use sport and play to empower disadvantaged children and young people in Switzerland and internationally to become healthy, educated and employed citizens. SAD was founded in 1991 as a non-profit foundation in Biel/Bienne, Switzerland.
SAD operates the International Platform on Sport and Development (sportanddev.org), an online communications platform, networking tool and learning hub for organisations using sport in development and humanitarian work. It is a multi-stakeholder initiative, with a community of more than 9,000 individuals and 900 organisations, including NGOs, governments, intergovernmental agencies, sports federations and universities.
sportanddev.org’s Steering Board funds and manages the strategic direction of the initiative. It is comprised of leading organisations in sport and development: the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the Commonwealth Secretariat, the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation, the Norwegian Olympic and Paralympic Committee, Reach Out To Asia, UEFA and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (an observer).
The position
This is an exciting opportunity for a creative and entrepreneurial consultant to nurture sportanddev.org’s existing partnerships, develop new networks and lead on the initiative’s fundraising strategy. The consultant will work remotely from London, meeting many of sportanddev.org’s UK-based partners and contacts regularly, and have the opportunity to travel several times a year to take part in conferences, meetings and debates. You should have excellent presentation skills, a gift for networking and a broad understanding of international development work. Knowledge of the use of sport to address social challenges would be a strong advantage.
