London-based NGO is looking to build relationships and develop partnerships with the sport for development community.

The Sporting Movement is a voluntary project developed to work closely with charitable organisations in order to help them better achieve their objectives through the use of sports. This includes the design of new or revision of existing sport for development programmes.

The movement was initiated by Bruce Ndala and Byron Levin, two Sport Business Management students who recently graduated from university in London. Upon reviewing the huge impact sports have had in their lives and their knowledge and skills in this field, the pair decided to give back, on a voluntary basis, what sports gave them by launching - The Sporting Movement (TSM). The first ever mission took place in the Dominican Republic over the summer of 2016. This was the result of a partnership between TSM and Aldeas de Paz.

Co-founder Bruce Ndala said "Taking part in sports allowed me to meet inspiring people who helped me develop life skills and shape the foundation of the person that I am today. I feel that now, it is my turn to use sport to help people reach their potential.”

Aldeas de Paz (ADP), located in Santa Barbara de Samana, is an NGO which promotes children’s rights and equal opportunities for all by working mainly with children with special needs. The collaboration was born out of ADP eager to introduce a physical activity programme, which would have great health and social benefits for the kids’ lives. The work of TSM was to develop physical activities programme, which is not only designed to help ADP achieve their goals but rather, it is more aimed at ensuring that through physical activities the participants can directly benefit by improving cognitive skills, being more healthy and alleviating some of the pain they may feel by having these learning difficulties.

TSM is looking to get in touch with London-based charities and discuss the possibilities of partnerships. Collaborations will remain on a voluntary basis, as TSM major goal is to give back and positively impact people lives through sports.

Co-founder Byron Levin added "When you understand that you can help the world with sport, help! The Sporting Movement enables us to achieve that with the help of charities"

Organisations that may be interested in working with The Sporting Movement should contact Bruce and Byron.
