SportPesa South Africa heeds kit call

During South Africa's Youth Day 2019, Inkwenkwezi Youth Development Sporting Foundation hosted the Game Changer Championships at which football kit was handed out to rural football teams with the help of SportPesa.

SportPesa Kits for Africa initiative yields positive results. This time out in rural South Africa. Inkwenkwezi Youth Development Sporting Foundation raises funds and accepts donations from corporate, individuals and donors to distribute sport clothing to rural, farm communities in need.

At this year's Game Changer Championships, SportPesa in partnership with Inkwenkwezi Youth handed over 10 football jerseys to rural football teams in need. The reciepients included: Real Tembisa, Dion City, Black Stars, soccer legends, Ocean Eleven, female teams and football under 21s. The teams were very happy to be the first receipients of these jerseys. Sicelo Goniwe, captain of Real Tembisa said: "We are delighted by the gesture shown by the sponsors and hoping the same could be done to other struggling rural teams as well."

The successfull hand over of football jerseys followed an intensive process, wherein teams submitted their applications over a year ago. Inkwenkwezi Youth distribute sport clothing quarterly with the help of the general public and corporate. The organisation is sitting with the backlog of 100 applications, which must be achieved before the end of the 2019/20 financial year ending on 31 March 2020. 

The organisation thanks SportPesa South Africa for the generous support and call upon the sporting community around the world to build into the dream of an African child by getting in on the acts of kindness.
