Sports Business Journal: Celebration of Service Award 2022

The Sports Business Journal is looking for nominees for their Celebration of Service Award, given to organizations using the power of sports to improve society and build community.

Sports Business Award winners exemplify the outstanding achievement and execution within the eligibility period (March 1, 2021, to February 28, 2022). Winners are recognized for innovation, creativity, organizational excellence, and leadership. Judges recognize “best in class” approaches and thought leadership, and industry influence in each category. Simply put, the winners of the Sports Business Awards have had an exemplary 12 months.

Sports Business Journal’s 2022 Celebration of Service Award recognizes the power sports has on improving society and in building community. This award honors those organizations who have led the way in exemplifying how sport is a catalyst for social change, who have both demonstrated innovation and provided inspiration through the power of sports. They have helped to lift people up and have demonstrated the power of sports to be a vehicle for good.

Eligibility / Criteria:

In order to be considered for the 2022 COS Award, organizations must:

Qualify as tax-exempt under Section 501c3 of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code
Be in financial good standing, based on further review of IRS filed 990s and/or audited financials
Represent that they operate within the parameters of all applicable laws and regulations where organization services are provided
Organizations from local to national may apply, as long as they have operations in the United States
Showcase outstanding institutional leadership
Demonstrate influential thought leadership
All nominations should include any relevant data - key metrics, measurements, and demonstration of proven impact

Note that this honor will be selected outside of the traditional SBA process and determined solely by SBJ

The award recipient will be named in April and in recognition of the honorees, SBJ will provide an awards package on behalf of their award-winning efforts. Honorees must be able to accept their award on May 18, 2022, in New York City in order to receive the award and benefits. Honoree must also be willing to participate in an interview with SBJ editorial staff and supply relevant videos and images to incorporate in the awards show

Eligibility Period – March 1, 2021, to February 28, 2022

Entry Deadline – March 14, 2022
