Are you passionate about sport, gender equity and community engagement?
An Australian volunteer has been requested to help support and strengthen capacity of WaterAid staff, local partners organizations and community members to integrate sport into existing community development programs to address issues of gender equality and women's empowerment in PNG.

This is one of two S4D roles for PNG.

Support and strengthen capacity of WaterAid staff, local partner organizations and community members to integrate sport into existing community development programs to address issues of gender equality and women’s empowerment in PNG. This position will support advancing the organisation’s approach within the Sports for Development program, which will involve working in close collaboration with National Sports Federations in particular with Netball and Volleyball Federations. In consultation with their line manager and relevant stakeholders, volunteers complete a work plan in the first three months of their assignment. The duties below are an indication of the type of work that may be involved in meeting the Assignment Objectives: • Supporting the WAPNG National Coordinator in engaging with the Netball and Volleyball Federations who contribute to school-based programs. • Facilitate local association activities in rural areas, including WASH facilities maintenance and engaging with district and local level governments. • Facilitate capacity building activities that strengthen the PNG Netball and Volleyball Federations to enable them to better support sports for sustainable growth. • Support the WAPNG National Coordinator in management of contracts with other PNG sports federations who provide rural services for the Strongim Komuniti Klabs. • Promote safe hygiene behaviour in selected communities and schools.
