Sports can play a Positive role in the social inclusion of Madrisa (Religious Islamic Schools) Children

Religious schools called Madrisas in Pakistan have globally drawn considerable international attention.

These Madrasas have a long history in Muslim societies generally and in Pakistan particularly. These institutions serve socially important purposes, including charitable endeavours such as running orphanages and providing Islamic education.

Poverty and illiteracy are the main 'push factors' for most students who attend these institutions which not only provide them Islamic education but also provide food and shelter.

These students mostly follow strict conduct and are generally not allowed to mingle with wider society.

There are concerns that at least some of these institutions foster religious extremism and terrorism.
