Fare is requesting information to assess the needs and barriers to participation in sport for refugees, with particular focus on women, as part of the INSPIRE project.

Two questionnaires have been designed to collect opinions and experiences from refugees and sports providers.

The questionnaires are available in English and Polish and are aimed at refugees and sports clubs, NGOs or any other organisations delivering sports sessions to refugees in Europe.

The answers will help understand the current state of sport for refugee inclusion, in particular in the three countries involved in the project, the United Kingdom, France and Poland. The results will be used alongside individual and group interviews, analysis of statistical data, best practice and literature review, to produce a practical toolkit.

The toolkit will provide guidance and recommendations and present best practice examples to enable groups to create inclusive sport sessions and adapt existing ones to meet the refugees’ needs and reduce barriers to their access to sport.

It will be launched in Berlin at the end of May and tested by project partners and Fare members Les Dégommeuses and Fundacja dla Wolności.

The questionnaires will be online until 1 May.

INSPIRE is a 12-month project funded by European Commission and aims to identify refugees’ needs for and barriers to participation in local sport activities, support the provision of sporting activities and provide opportunities for refugees and asylum seekers at grassroots sport level.
