Increased coaching training is used to promote participation in table tennis at the grass roots level and help to promote community well-being

Amman, the capital of Jordan, played host to an ITTF/PTT Level One Coaches Course from 10th - 19th August 2009.

The course was organised with the support of the ITTF Development Programme and in partnership with Generations for Peace.

A total of 20 students attended the course which was held in the facilities of the Jordanian Paralympic committee.

The course was followed by five days of coaching visits to clubs and centres recently established by the Jordan Table Tennis Federation to promote greater participation in the sport at the grass roots level.

A spokesperson from Generations for Peace met with those attending the course and outlined their program's philosophy and direction.

The newly trained coaches made a stop at the Al Talbeya camp for refugees, where a centre had been established to serve the 10'000 strong community.

The coaches quickly recruited 25 new female players for the sport.
