With large media outlets like CNN International using sportanddev to connect with registered Team Players, an up-to-date profile is essential for networking.

sportanddev’s Connect section now has over 4,000 registered Team Players and is the leading source of information to find out who’s who in the S&D sector. Maintaining your Team Player profile will help you get the most out of this free service.

Not convinced? Here are three reasons why you should keep an up-to-date Team Player profile.

1. It can lead to networking opportunities
The Operating Team (OT) was recently contacted by a CNN International anchor seeking information and contacts for a documentary film on an S&D topic. Using the Connect Map, the OT looked for possible Team Players who could be of help to the anchor. Thanks to information provided on Team Player profiles, we were able to provide the anchor with possible contacts.

2. People are more likely to connect with you if your profile is up-to-date
Landing on a profile page in desperate need of an update, visitors may assume you are no longer interested in the sector and look elsewhere for the sought after information. Not maintaining an updated page could result in a lost opportunity to connect with some very interesting and well connected individuals in the sector, including donors, researchers, media personnel, students and practitioners.

3. It is an opportunity to showcase your most recent contribution to S&D
There are many great features provided on your Team Player profile. Not only can you add a personal bio and highlight your involvement and main areas of interest in the sector, but you can also publicise a publication, event and/or news story. You can even upload a document (e.g. thesis, published article or project proposal) or video and track previous posts you have made on sportanddev. Team Player profiles are also linked to organisational and project profile pages, providing visitors with information on your professional involvement in the sector.

If you haven’t yet created a Team Player profile, it is a free service and will only take 5 minutes to sign up.
