Vaani to promote women's football in Seoul, South Korea

"I grew up in a small village in India. 6/10 girls drop out of school and become young brides but I am not one of them. Growing up in a society where women are considered weaklings has been very challenging. Since I started playing football, I have fought for a different life than my sister and most women in my community. That dream was the beginning of my journey to education and a future free from poverty. I have seen the cycle of how girls are not invested in or educated, get forced into child marriage, grow up to be financially dependent on others, experience abuse, and continue the cycle. Gender equity and investment in girls' futures are two developments that I would like to bring to my community. Today I fight to write another story for myself and my community." Radha Kumari, a beneficiary of VAANI’s sports program, proudly narrates her story.

VAANI aims to enable women to find their voice through football. We are building a community together that is all-inclusive and promotes freedom of expression and the empowerment of women. We promote women’s football globally.

Vaani was launched a year ago in Berlin, Germany. After two successful events in Berlin and India this year, we want to hold another event to promote women’s football in Seoul, South Korea.

The event will take place in mid-December in Seoul, South Korea, to empower women in Korea and reduce gender inequality by forecasting women's leadership through football.

During the day, there will be several activities taking place. The day will commence with various workshops focused on the empowerment of women and increasing women's leadership through different participatory dynamics.

●        Leadership workshop: A stimulation where all participants are divided into groups and given the challenge for finding a solution to reduce gender inequality in football.

●        Storytelling: There will be three people — one from Denmark and two from India telling how they have fought social issues through football in their community.

●        7v7 football match: There will be a Ligue of 7v7. There will be four rounds and the team with the most score will play the finale.

●        Extra: During the programme there will be a lot of fun challenges and competition to keep the players engaged.

We believe that football is a very powerful tool to tackle so many challenges around us. We believe football is more than a sport. Around 100 women will be gathering for this event.
