Cricket for Change recently organised an Inclusive and Awareness Day for around 20 young people with a visual impairment who attend mainstream schools in North London.

The event took place on the 14th October and it was the first time the 20 young people had tried the game of cricket.

Not only did the day include England visually impaired squad players; Simon Ledwith and Joel Robinson but a former England VI player, Dalby-Welsh, facilitated training sessions for teachers, support workers and parents.

The training focussed on how to adapt sports to those with visual impairments. The participants took part in a game of cricket using simulation glasses to help them appreciate the challenges of the visually impaired game.

The day was reportedly a huge success and has inspired some of the young participants to continue with cricket and join their local clubs.

The day was funded by the Greater London Society for the Blind and gave the young people the chance to build an awareness of the GLSB´s Member Organisations and the services they suppport blind and visually impaired people with.

Building on this success a similar day will be held with young people from the south London borough's.
