From 9 to 13 March the European Youth Sport Forum (EYSF2017) was held in Malta. The event gathered 120 participants from all over Europe and the MENA region who discussed sport-related hot topics.

The 8th edition of EYSF was organised by the Maltese EU Presidency, SportMalta and ENGSO Youth, and tackled the topics of social inclusion and volunteering in sport, healthy lifestyles through sport and sport diplomacy. The participants received some great inputs on the topics from keynote speakers, and worked on them further in workshops. At the end of their internal discussions, they had a chance to speak in the House of Representatives of the Maltese Parliament in front of some members of Maltese political parties.

It wouldn’t have been a youth and sports forum without a massive amount of physical activities. SportMalta organised an excellent afternoon of beach sport activities at the beautiful Golden Bay, and there were a couple of other optional activities to choose from, including Piloxing, Zumba, canoe polo and wheelchair dancing.

The outcome of the four days of intensive work is the so-called Pink Paper that contains the recommendations of the event to decision makers in European sport. The document was presented at the closing of the forum in the presence of Her Excellency, Marie Louise Coleiro Preca, the President of Malta and Mr. Yves Le Lostecque, the Head of the Sport Unit of the European Commission.

The work has just started with producing the Pink Paper. Now the task is to spread its recommendations to decision-making bodies on a European and national level.
