For the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace (IDSDP) 2017 the Youth Charter will launch the Youth Charter ‘25’ #legacyopportunity4all Global Call to Action through a social media campaign. This call to action is the key outcome of the Youth Charter 2016 Games Legacy Impact Report.

The Youth Charter 2016 Games Legacy Impact Report is a four-year review of the social and human development legacy activity with young people and communities locally, nationally and internationally. The 2016 report is 180 pages of detailed equality, diversity, inclusion and participation (EDIP) analysis of Team GB squads at the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games, with the report findings informing the current policy and investment strategies for sport from grassroots to elite level. The 2016 report provides seven key recommendations for improved collaboration and coordination of the sport for development and peace movement.

The Youth Charter adopts a multi-faceted approach to achieving its objectives, often by forging partnerships with a wide range of public and private sector agencies – engaging, motivating and inspiring sustainable and achievable benefits.

The Youth Charter’s Community Campus Model provides a platform for collaboration and partnership. As part of the legacy of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games the Youth Charter is aiming to deliver:

  • 50 community campuses on five continents
  • 50,000 social coaches
  • 5 million children and young people engaged, motivated and inspired

This will be delivered in the context of the United Nations and International Olympic Committee Accord and their respective UN Sustainable Development Goals and IOC Promote Olympism in Society programmes. This is a collaboration and partnership which can help deliver the UN Sustainable Development Goal 17 – Partnerships for Goals.

The Youth Charter outputs and outcomes of the Community Campus are measured against our five Legacy Development Goals of:

  1. Education Attendance and Attainment
  2. Health and Physical Activity
  3. Social order discipline and civic responsibility
  4. Environment and Quality of Life
  5. Vocation training, employment and enterprise (VTEE)
