The third Sport for Development Awards - Zambia’s premier grassroots sports award ceremony - will be held on the 26th of November in Lusaka.

The third Sport for Development Awards - Zambia’s premier grassroots sports award ceremony - will be held on the 26th of November in Lusaka.

An initiative of Sport In Action (SIA), the awards are aimed at identifying some of the unsung heroes who are contributing effectively to Zambia's sport development, thereby providing motivation in the development process.

Solicitation of entries has already started as of October 10 and entries should be submitted no later than the 12th of November 2010 at 5pm.

Nominations for potential award recipients are expected to be accompanied with full names, contact details, province, category nominated, at least two referees and a brief profile not exceeding 500 words.

After the successful 2009 awards ceremony exclusively developed with key partners, SIA hopes to further inspire Zambians to share in the development of various sports in the country by staging an even better event this year.

Sport in Action is a non-governmental organization seeking to improve people’s quality of life through sport and recreational activities. Founded in 1998, SIA was the first Zambian sports NGO. With Sport for Development (the use of sport as a tool for social change) as its underlying principle, SIA positively impacts the lives of thousands of children throughout 24 districts in Zambia.

SIA staff and volunteers work with more than 80, 000 children each week, many of whom come from challenging backgrounds. Through this work lives have been transformed due to knowledge enhancement in the area of healthy and life skills behavioral change towards family and peers and improvement in sporting abilities.
