The European Sociological Association will hold its 12th conference from 25 to 28 August 2015 in Prague. Now the organisers are calling for paper submissions to be presented at the event. Submission deadline: 1 February 2015

The general theme of the conference is "Differences, inequalities and the sociological imagination" in a context of globalisation.

The following specific sessions will be held for the Society and Sports research network

  • Diversity, management and governance in sport
  • Investigating the dark sides of sport: methodological issues and challenges
  • Sport, media and new media
  • Society and Sports (open session)

The following joint sessions will be held for the Society and Sport research network
  • Joint session with the Qualitative Methods research network: The body and embodiment in sport – studies on beyond discursive knowledge
  • Joint session with the Ethnic Relations, Racism and Antisemitism research network: Racial/ethnic relations and sport
  • Joint session with the Women’s and Gender Studies research network: Sports, gender and sexualities
  • Joint session with the Quantitative Methods research network: Competitive balance in professional sport
  • Joint session with the Sociology of Health and Illness research network: Physical activity, health and inequalities
  • Joint session with the Social Movments research network: Football fans, activism and social change
  • Joint session with the Ethnic Relations, Racism and Antisemitism and the Political Sociology research network: Sport, ethnicity and political conflict
  • Joint session with the Sociology of Health and Illness research network: Sport, health and society – Doing research on social health determinants

Abstract submission
  • Abstracts submitted for the conference should be on a topic relating either to the research Networks or Research Streams. The number of submissions is limited to two per person.
