The Women in Dance Leadership Conference is the only conference in the USA that celebrates the presence of female leadership in major dance companies worldwide. Now its organisers are calling for papers to be presented at the event. Paper submission deadline: 1 April 2015.

About the conference

The participants will investigate, explore and reflect on women’s leadership by inviting world-renowned dance makers/ artists /scholars /directors to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, for a four-day conference.

The committee welcomes papers on any women in dance leadership related topic. Authors of accepted papers will be invited to present their work at the event. The conference will grant the discounted registration fee for the authors of the accepted papers ($150).

Call for papers procedure
Timely submission of the papers is critical to the success of the programme. The procedures and timetable enumerated below will apply.

  • Only e-mail submissions are accepted at by 1 April 2015. Please put “Women In Dance Call for Papers” in the subject line. Papers must be no more than 5,000 words and should include an abstract of the paper that is 200-words or less.
  • Approving the completed paper: By 1 June 2015 all authors will have been notified as to the results of this screening process. Before that time the committee will try to give authors time to respond to comments from the screening process. Accepted papers will be available on the Women in Dance website prior to the conference.
  • Presenting the paper: Authors are invited to present their papers at the 2015 Women in Dance Leadership Conference scheduled for 29 October 2015 - 1 November 2015. Each invited author should make every effort to attend the conference in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and present his/her paper. These authors will be contacted in advance of the meeting.
