The Open University of Catalonia online Postgraduate and Master courses focuses on the study of sport as a tool for social coexistence and conflict resolution.

Type of programmes
  • Masters
  • Postgraduate Sport for Social Coexistence
  • Postgraduate Sport for Conflict Resolution

Course description

UNESCO, the Futbol Club Barcelona Foundation and the Open University of Catalonia UOC have joined forces to create a new chair in sport as a tool for social coexistence and conflict resolution, an important initiative in both academia and sports, with the aim to promote social harmony and peaceful conflict resolution through sport.

The Master meets the educational needs of new profiles in the management of socio-educational work based on sport, taking UN Millenium Development Goals (MDGs) as its background.

The chair provides procedures, attitudes and skills so that students can analyse and apply the possibilities for using sport as a tool for educational intervention and transmission of values in contexts with low levels of social coexistence and high levels of conflict.

The course will be taught by internationally renowned staff, as for example Prof. Ian Brittain, Prof. Tom Woodhouse, Prof. Simon Darnell, Prof. Alexis Lyras and Prof. Maria Rato and Clemens Ley, among other academic staff.
