Fifth International Conference on Sport and Society: Call for papers

An invitation to submit proposals for participation at a conference taking place in Rio de Janeiro days after the conclusion of the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

The International Advisory Board of the Sport and Society Knowledge Community is pleased to announce the call for papers for the Fifth International Conference on Sport and Society Society to be held 16-17 July 2014 at UNIVERSO, Niterói, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The conference is now accepting proposals for presentations, workshops, colloquia, and more, exploring the intersection of Sport and Society. Presentations should address one of the following themes:

Sporting cultures and identities
Sport and health
Sports education
Sports management and commercialisation
Sport and development (special focus for 2014)

The International Sport and Society conference is hosted by UNIVERSO - Universidade Salgado de Oliveira - in Niterói, Rio de Janeiro. The conference is excited to visit Rio de Janeiro mere days after the conclusion of the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

It is a prime time to explore the relationship of sport and society through our many thematic lenses, and especially the influence of sport and development, which is one of our special focuses for the 2014 event. Graduate student scholarships are also available for this conference.

Submission deadlines are on a rolling basis. Final submission deadline is 8 May 2014.
